This clinic will offer a fresh view for Grand River Ranch staff and volunteers to add to their current programs.  Participants will experience simulations, actual hands on training, watching others and a chance to discuss different learning concepts. Playing with various natural and man-made obstacles, the participants will learn advanced techniques guiding their equine from different positions and distances.  Participants will learn in-hand foundational ground skills that will help to execute obstacles correctly and complete each one with success.  In future clinics, there will be ridden foundation skills with obstacles.

Confidence and a positive learning environment are the main focus of this clinic for both the equine and human.  Through the use of obstacles, participants will develop new skills to help with evaluating their horses confidence, emotional state and how to help the horse to be safer to use in the Grand River Ranch education programming.  The ultimate goal is to develop an understanding of how each small step will lead to the end goal and how to apply this understanding to future obstacles and situations.  Each small step leads to bigger successes.
