PEMF Therapy is a non-invasive, drug-free therapy that uses targeted electromagnetic pulses to stimulate tissues at the cellular level to accelerate injury recovery, alleviate pain and inflammation, and enhance overall athletic performance. 
The therapy works by safely passing a low-frequency electrical current through specialized handheld loops—to temporarily charge and normalize cellular membranes. This boosting of cellular energy enhances blood circulation, brings more oxygen and nutrients into the tissues, and more efficiently clears out metabolic waste like lactic acid.

• Before your horse's session, NES will discuss your horse's history, current workload and the reason you are considering PEMF Therapy.

• Your horse is comfortably positioned while the PEMF Therapy equipment is applied according to the selected session protocol and manufacturer's recommendations. 

• There is no complicated training required for your horse.  They simply get to be a horse.  The horse just needs to stand calm.

• Every horse responds differently.   That's why NES takes an individualized approach rather than treating every horse exactly the same way.

Is PEMF Therapy Safe?

• Before beginning a session, NES will discuss relevant health information and any concerns that may affect whether PEMF Therapy is appropriate at that time.

• PEMF Therapy is generally considered a non-invasive modality, but that does not mean it is appropriate for every horse or every situation.

• PEMF Therapy is not to be used as a substitute for veterinary assessment when a horse is experiencing unexplained symptoms such as:​

  • Sudden unexplained pain/lameness/swelling

  • Significant loss of performance

  • Neurological symptoms

  • A sudden change in behaviour

  • Fever or illness

  • Colic symptoms

  • Acute injury

  • Active bleeding injury

  • If your horse has a medical condition, is pregnant, has an implanted electronic device

  • If your horse is receiving veterinary treatment, consult your veterinarian before using PEMF Therapy

• NES will always recommend veterinary involvement when a horse's condition warrants professional medical assessment.  When in doubt, call your veterinarian.  Your veterinarian and other qualified professionals are an important part of your horse's care team.

Can PEMF Therapy Replace My Veterinarian?

• No — and it isn't supposed to.  PEMF Thearpy is a complementary wellness modality.

• NES does not diagnose disease or injury, prescribe medication, or replace veterinary treatment.

• If your horse is lame, injured, acutely ill, experiencing unexplained pain, or showing a significant change in behaviour or performance, your veterinarian should be your first call.

• PEMF Therapy can potentially be incorporated into a broader wellness or rehabilitation program with appropriate professional guidance.

• NES believes in collaboration, not competition.

 

How Long Does a Session Take?

• PEMF Therapy sessions can vary depending on the equipment being used, the treatment protocol and the horse.

• A session may include a targeted session on a specific area of the body or a broader whole-body approach.

• Your horse's session will be planned around their individual needs and the manufacturer's recommended operating parameters.

• Sessions can range from 15 minutes to a maximum of 1 hour depending on the needs of the horse.

How many sessions will my horse need?

• There isn't a universal number of sessions that is appropriate for every horse.

• Frequency and duration depend on the horse, the reason for using PEMF Therapy, the equipment and the manufacturer's recommended protocols.

• Session frequency will vary depending on the individual horses' needs.  

• NES prefers an individualized approach rather than selling a predetermined number of sessions simply because it is convenient.
